A review from a patient of Chris': March 2018
' 5 star location and acupuncture treatment '
"I recently had a severe panic attack leading to very bad anxiety. I had problems breathing and swallowing for weeks with additional constant pins and needles in my hands.
I was told acupuncture could help which I didn't really believe until my first session with Chris.
I honestly couldn't believe how much better I felt after the first day. I had gone from feeling suffocated 24/7 to almost breathing normally.
I had several sessions with Chris working on different things each time and could easily see the progress I was making week after week.
Chris was very professional and easy to talk to about anything. She planned sessions before and explained everything she was doing. To add to this the room is beautiful and very relaxing making you feel very comfortable.
I am now a strong believer in acupuncture and highly recommend Chris, I cant thank her enough".
ACUPUNCTURE AT ORCHARD LIFE, WITH CHRIS SWIATEK
Chris qualified as an Acupuncturist with a BSc (Hons) Degree from the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading (affiliated with Kingston University). She practices an integrated style of acupuncture, combining Five Element Constitutional acupuncture which focuses on treating the core of a person's identity bringing balance and strength on a deeper level, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which is well suited for a wide range of physical, and emotional problems. A list of problems that may be helped with acupuncture can be found on the British Acupuncture Council Website (BAcC).
Prior to training to be an Acupuncturist, Chris worked for many years as a nurse, most recently as a Nurse Practitioner in General Practice. Her nursing background has given her insight, knowledge and professionalism to assist with a wide range of conditions. This has inspired her to treat people in a much more holistic way and integrates principles drawn from Western and Chinese medicine to return her patients to optimum health.
She is fully licensed, insured and registered through the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and completes a minimum 30 hours of Continuing Professional Development each year.
Chris offers a free 15 minute consultation to discuss your condition and whether Acupuncture can help.

Traditional Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of healing which may help a person to achieve a more balanced physical and emotional state. For a number of environmental and lifestyle reasons the body's energy can become blocked or depleted, resulting in symptoms of pain or illness. Acupuncture is still featured in mainstream healthcare in China, both as a stand-alone therapy and in combination with Western Medicine, this is particularly interesting to me because of my previous work as a Nurse practitioner.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of single use, fine needles into different points on the body. The needles in a completely natural way instruct the body to initiate it's own healing.
Acupuncture can be given for specific symptoms or conditions or it may be given to maintain good health and to improve a general sense of well being.
Acupuncture can help with a wide range of conditions such as pain relief, digestive disorders, sleep problems, depression, menstrual conditions. Please see www.acupuncture.org.uk for more information about what Acupuncture can treat, or feel free to contact me with any specific questions.
Treatment can also include the use of other techniques used in Chinese Medicine to stimulate the body's energy or Qi and to enable support to both physical and emotional health such as:
Heat is applied to an acupuncture point or meridian using moxa (mugwort a therapeutic herb). It is used to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi and Blood in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences.
Glass or plastic cups with a vacuum seal are placed on the skin to stimulate blood flow and release illness causing stagnation.
A traditional Chinese treatment that involves scraping the skin with a massage tool to stimulate blood flow and healing.
